Inspiration Trade!

When I craft, I often get little phrases stuck in my head "where did they go on vacation?," "green fish scales," "Happy Anniversary!" I was thinking, wouldn't it be interesting to hear what words swirl around in other people's heads?

So, gather a little smattering of words together. They can be a few sentences, rhyming, nonsensical, or anything you please. Submit them with your message telling me you'd like to participate. Later, you'll receive another vixen's words of inspiration. These words are meant to be an inspiration, a starting point, but not a part of the final project. For example, I might receive the words "the leaves rush and rustle in the cold wind" and knit a scarf to keep out the cold, or bind a mini-book full of drawings of trees, or make a necklace from painted wooden beads. I would try and avoid simply making something that included those words in the end result. But if the words really speak to you, then go forth!

1. Message me (Anne) with your wonderful words, intent to participate, mailing address, AND email address by June 9.

2. On June 11, receive the words, address and Tribe name (and profile link) of the person to which you are sending your item.

3. Ponder their words and what they conjure up for you. Does a literal interpretation spring into mind? or does it start a train of thought leading elsewhere? Are you sending back a reply? an answer? a question? a punchline?

4. Your materials should cost between $0-10.00.

5. Ship it to the address you've been given by June 30.

6. Wait for your little lump of crafty goodness to arrive.

Any questions? Message me.

  • Ooh, this sounds like a lotta fun. I'll have to get cracking so I can leave you some words before I head out of town. (I'll be back in time for the official start date).
    • Just beware Barbara, I can make any phrase sound like "kitten". You might want to send Anne a PM and let her know NOT to pair us!!! LOL, just kidding, it would rock to be paired with you.
  • Hey Great One, is there a completion date to this trade?
    • June 30 is the ship date, according to the first post. I'm excited to get started. Thanks for getting this going!
      • Thanks Kathleen, I must have missed that. I am pretty excited as well.
        • Info should have gone out by now. Message me if you haven't received an email. Woo hoo!
          • So, I just finished my Inspiration Trade crafty project and I have 2 questions:
1 - I assume it is okay to ship it off before the June 30th deadline -but thought I would ask.
            And
2 - is it normal to want to keep your craft designated to trade? :-)
It has been a while since my glue gun and I have had a chance to play, and although I know that I have to get more refined with my gluing, I really like my project! I wanna make one for me now!

I hope that is not too wierd sounding!
            Tracey
            • And of course I hope it is well recieved at its destination...
              • I'm glad I have until the 30th! I was thinking it was due by the 25th for some reason. I'm well underway, but had a..technical difficulty.. to deal with. I'm excited about my project and should be shipping on time!
              • Absolutely normal. Feel free to ship your goodies off early. I always take photos of my trade items, I want something to remember them by. Plus, if it's a fabulous craft, you'll want to remember how you did it.
                • And you will want to have a record of it in your portfolio, even if you don't think you will ever need a portfolio. I have so many quilts that I gave away and don't have pictures of and regret not taking a picture first.
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Peggy said"And you will want to have a record of it in your portfolio..."

Did that for sure - with my day job being custom sewing and there being so many fun outfits I make for people, I have tried to get into the habit of taking pics before the tiems leave my place!
  • I'm such a crack head - where in the world did i get the idea that the ship date was the 24th???? I'm for sure breathing a sigh of relief - I was ready to pull a all nighter - I'm gonna change my screen name to just plain stupid :)
    • Karen yer not stupid! You just have crafts on the brain! Regular mundane facts(like dates) get pushed to the side by patterns and images and glitter and shiney little doo-dads.

By the way i am done! Yee haw! I'll ship it out Monday as long as I don't get distracted on the way to the post office. haha
  • Okay, I mailed off my package of crafty goodness to Barbara just now. I will have to say that I really like what I made (I hope Barbara does) and that I would probably never have made it without Barbara's words. Barbara when you get it let me know and I will post a pic, even if you are not at home!!
    • ditto Peggy, am not at home but have internet access and the pic of the crafty I sent you. Although not a great picture, if you can take one with out a solar flare in the middle(its a bit shiney) let me know and you can post yours.
