when's the next trade? in crafty vixens we just did a toy/doll trade - how 'bout we do a doll trade - that was pretty cool
-
Re: next trade
Sat, September 2, 2006 - 10:28 PMI could go for a doll trade,
I had a few other ideas, take em or leave em:
a "finish my project" trade
a "make me what I need" trade (for instance I can tell I'm going to need some of those draft killing snakes for the cracks below windows and doors in my ancient victorian apartment!)
a collapseable trade
and a tiny precious trade.
those are open to interpretation.
I am still way too busy but I really miss it -- I want in! -
-
Re: next trade
Sat, September 2, 2006 - 11:04 PMi like the idea of the draft killing snakes...
my mom has one that's a kitty, and the tail is the draft killer....
OOOOOH a draft killer trade!! -
-
Re: next trade
Sat, September 2, 2006 - 11:05 PMno need for that in sunny CA
:( -
-
Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 5:56 AMIt could be a draftkiller/doorstop trade. -
-
Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 5:56 AMBut I like the idea of a tiny precious trade. -
-
Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 8:46 AMWith a small apartment and not a lot of room for too many fabulous trade crafts, I really like the ideas of the tiny precious trade and the door stop/draft killer trade. Perhaps my practical side is coming through!

Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 9:02 AMi like the doll trade idea... i've been wanting to make a doll for such a long time... and i like the door kitty/draft snake idea... i made one once that looked like a calico cat from some scraps of fake fur... and the tiny precious trade would be cool... i've never done anything like that... and being a seamstress i could do any trade involving sewing... clothes... curtains... bedding... house hold items...
and the last trade made my niece so jealous that now she is wanting to join us and crafty trade too... lol... i'm sure she will be signing up in the next day or two -

Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 10:20 AMI just got brand new doors and windows. There better not be any drafts!
-
Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 10:27 AMAll these sound like they could be fabulous and fun. Which leads me to my next order of business . . .
. . . I would love to have guest trade moderators. I really enjoy organizing the trades, but sometimes things get busy and then there's no trading. A trade really only takes about 2 hours over the 4-6 weeks, but sometimes it's just that one more thing.
However, if some of you lovely ladies and gents would be up for running a trade of your choice now and then, that would rock!
What do y'all think? -

Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 8:02 PMGee Peggy I think you should go for it. I for one am ready for a new trade. With cooler weather around the corner, draft dodgers might be kind of fun. I'm up for just about anything. Be waithing to see whats coming up next. -
-
Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 8:51 PMi like the tiny precious idea. postage in canada is redonkulous! so a draft dodger would be too heavy to mail.

Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 10:03 PMi love paper dolls!!! that was my favorite thing to play with as a child... i was entertained for hours... cutting them out of last season's sears robuck or montgomery ward catalog... making so many messes... only to have them thrown away later when my grandmother came in and saw what i was doing

Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 10:47 PMThere's a whole new kind of paper doll that's more arty than just a flat cardboard cutout with paper clothes. Check out this link:

Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 10:47 PMHey, wouldn't draft dodgers just go to Canada on thier own? No postage neccesary!
-
Re: next trade
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 3:57 PMhey I really like these. I would do these.

Re: next trade
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 6:26 AMOh, there are a lot of fabric doll quilts like that, with the doll in the middle and their little dresses around them. Very neat.

Re: next trade
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 11:52 PMHave any of you ever done a craft goods trade? I can't tell you how exciting it would be for me to open a mysterious box of lovely new (to me) misc. crafting goodies! Afterward we could all post pics of what we made with what we were sent.
Or... maybe we could send our goods to one person, they could make a craft, then send it on to another person, or even back to the original sender... ? Lots of sending, I know, but maybe it would be worthwhile. -

Re: next trade
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 6:27 AMWe did something like this recently, a leftovers trade. -

Re: next trade
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 3:11 PMAwww man... and I missed it! I'll have to search past threads and see if I can find out how it turned out. -

Re: next trade
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 4:09 PMyes, that's very fun! must make you smile every time you look at it. I'd be up for a box of stuff trade, where you send someone a box of stuff you like to see made into something and have that person send it back all made up. it's been done twice, I guess, but I'd still be up for it. I have some pretty interesting stuff! -
-
Re: next trade
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 4:09 PMor how 'bout a leftover purse trade, where you get some stuff and make it into a purse? -
-
Re: next trade
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 4:10 PMSilk Purse from a Sow's Ear Trade! -
-
Re: next trade
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 5:02 PMI still like the tiny precious trade, mostly cause I just recently got a new book full of ideas. I might just have to start practicing now. -

Mon, September 4, 2006 - 7:38 PMI'm okay with whatever, except the draft dodger. I just have no use for one. -

Mon, September 4, 2006 - 9:27 PM>>>except the draft dodger. I just have no use for one. <<<< up here in canada, back in the 60's, we didn't have much use for them either, but we still got lots!

Re: next trade
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 12:43 PMCould someone explain the "Tiny Precious" trade? I'm not quite sure what that would entail... -
-
Re: next trade
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 3:59 PMhmmm. that would entail actually thinking about it. hmmm...
how about nothing over 1x1x1 inch? any materials, just get to know your trade partner a bit and see what they like, and make it with them in mind.
anyone have anything to add? -
-
Re: next trade
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 6:10 PM1X1X1 inch? Lord I would have to have a magnifying glass and tweezers. I doubt that I am in the mood to creat that small. BUT would LOVE to see what everyone else created that tiny.
Thats my 2 cents. Smalls OK teeny weeny not for me.
Go for it Fang. -
-
Re: next trade
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 8:13 PMWould it be okay to up the size to up to 3"? That way the really gung ho folks can do super mini and those who'd need an electron microscope to see that small can make ours a wee bit bigger. -
-
Re: next trade
Wed, September 6, 2006 - 5:46 AMGood for you Kathy! Glad that I am not the only one that can't handle teeny weeny. Me old eyes aren't good enough anymore and thats even with contacts.

Re: next trade
Wed, September 6, 2006 - 5:46 AMi'm with patty on the size issue. small yes, teeny no. i'm an old bat...a blind old bat! -
-
Re: next trade
Wed, September 6, 2006 - 8:30 AMok I agree with you all! I guess I hadn't thought it through - I have an old injury involving the tiniest muscles and tendons in my hands - that would keep me from doing that anyway - what was I thinking! I guess I would have figured something out. -
-
Re: next trade
Thu, September 7, 2006 - 6:08 AMSmall is good, just not micro! It doesn't have to be an inch to be small and precious! I still like the idea. What's the word Peggy?

Re: next trade

-
Re: next trade
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 5:07 PMWell, tiny precious seems to be the thing, but if Peggy is moderating this one, she can choose! I don't think we need to vote, but that's just me... -

Re: next trade
Wed, September 6, 2006 - 8:10 AMI with you about letting Peggy choose, Kathleen.
