Re: Where you at?
Sun, April 5, 2009 - 10:07 PMWell I got all inspired to do a tarot deck. I started the Fool card (my favorite) and got it mostly filled in, gathered some random pieces for other cards...and stopped. It's still in the works...I ordered blank playing cards the other day.
I think I am going to make them as larger pieces and then scan and print smaller to fit on the cards (this way too I could do the printing and numbers in PhotoShop). I imagine I will be working on it for years.
And then my less expansive project was to make a carrying case for my little netbook. I have an empty box that some lotions came in and I sort of started using it as a lap desk, so I was thinking of finishing the box and making it a combo lap desk and case. I just can't decide how to proceed, I started out thinking I would cover the outside and inside with fabric, but now I am thinking inside with fabric outside a collage... -

Re: Where you at?
Tue, April 7, 2009 - 1:08 PMWell this winter I made 2 commisioned pieces and just yesterday worked on a design for a window for a friend who just built a new house. Before they started the house they asked if I would make a stained glass window. I have also been making mirrors with stained glass around them. These are fairly quick and I really love the looks. Yesterday actually started cutting out a sign for my shop. Has the shop name and the phone number with a profile of a woman with long flowing hair. I designed the window probably 3 years ago. Guess it is past time I got it finished. -

Re: Where you at?
Tue, April 7, 2009 - 4:57 PMBarb, I'd love to see your tarot cards! You can always make individual greeting cards from them, too!
I'm not creating anything new these days. Too much else going on. I miss it, but would just feel overwhelmed if I started anything else right now.

Re: Where you at?
Wed, April 8, 2009 - 12:44 PMHey I know you were really into that artist trading card thing a while back...I keep meaning to do some...maybe we could do that for a trade. It's a fairly small project, maybe we could even do a Tarot theme...or is that just too selfish. Foisting my pet project onto everyone else?

Re: Where you at?
Wed, April 8, 2009 - 4:22 PMNo, I could even get behind that one. I'd love it if we could assemble a Tarot set. Or at least some of the major arcana.
What if we each did our life card? That's where you add up all the numbers in the date of your birth. The first number under 22 is it. For me, it's 1960+07+30= 1997. 1+9+9+7= 26. 2+6=8. Mine's 8. I'm Strength. Then we can figure out how to get them all printed cheaply. Maybe Ms. Smart knows how. Could be any media. I have a set of cards that are appliqued fabrics and trims.

Re: Where you at?
Wed, April 8, 2009 - 8:54 PMOh, I'm all titter with excitement over this
Yes, let's do it
I'd be down for splitting up a set.
Maybe we could find a fourth person and each one design a type of card and split up the major arcana.
This is a big project but what a freaking cool ass one!
Barbary - where did you order cards from?
I have some resources available as well. :)
Color copies for free.
I also work with lots of print vendors if we decide to go that route...
Maybe we'll be famous!!!
Tribe Tarot Cards
Barbleen Smart Tarot Cards
BKS Tarot Cards
Well what do you think? Shall we agree on a card or two to start?
To begin, shall we pick one major and one of the suite cards to design?
The life number card thing Kathleen posted?
Is anyone else interested in this?
And yes, I am still loving the trading art cards thing as well.
This is exciting!

Re: Where you at?
Thu, April 9, 2009 - 5:55 PMThe Emperor.
I'm a 2, I think, which would give me the Priestess.
Maybe we could each do our life number major arcana card...and then another one we like. I'd be willing to do any of them really. Or maybe it would be more challenging to do one we don't like, I've always hated the Hierophant.
Are we going to see if anybody else is interested?

Re: Where you at?
Thu, April 9, 2009 - 10:13 PMOkay how bout this...
We all make our number card now.
And we figure a way to exchange cards with each other - so we all have one of each, yeah?
We then think about the process and where we would like to go with it.
How we could, how many cards, over what time period, the commitment to do this...
I have been thinking about it already.
I am thinking of what style to use to make cards - drawing, collage, photoshop art?!?!?! writing!!!!
Who's in?
Kathleen, Barbary Bluebells, me and anyone else? -

Fri, April 10, 2009 - 5:09 PMI am so "The Emperor" hee hee
really
So what proportions do we want to work in?
We can always size them down
I just measured a set of tarot cards 3 x 5
You guys good with that? -
-
Re: Where you at?
Fri, April 10, 2009 - 7:26 PM3x5 is a good proportion. I'll probably work bigger, then size down. -

Re: Where you at?
Tue, April 14, 2009 - 4:16 PMI'm poking and prodding, and thinking and plotting and I've downloaded some images, and next I need to start digging through the scrap pile...sometime that is the most tedious thing...one of these days I am going to mail off my entire collection of for-future-collage-use images just so I don't have to look through them again.

Fri, April 24, 2009 - 6:42 PMTarot Card Update:
I have created and/or found my pieces for my Tarot card

It looks fun
I need to do my related story, write up which I have already researched

Re: Where you at?
Fri, April 24, 2009 - 9:17 PMI've stalled at the moment, I have some images and a clear idea, but house hunting picked up steam, and assorted other junk demands some attention, perhaps I will work on it this weekend. I am sort of overflowing with energy, I just needs to direct it.
