Let's do a rather quick turnaround so no one stresses overmuch. I can be ready with mine in two weeks tops. If I give out addresses at the end of next week (that'd be March 29th-ish) Would everyone be ready?

Remember, you're not making anything FOR someone, so you don't need names in advance. If you're in, go ahead and PM me, but you don't even have to say here if you're in. That could be fun, not knowing who's in and who's not. I won't mention who's in. You don't even have to tell me until next week. One person and myself are already committed, so it's on. I won't even tell you if it's round robin or straight trade!

1)Think about something you'd like to see more of in your life be it peace, abundance, knowledge, love, fun, whatever.
2) Collect some clippings, scraps, postcards, you know- collagey stuffs- that represent that to you. Doesn't have to make any logical sense.
3) Send the stuffs to your trade partner. You can tell your partner what you're after or not as you wish.
4) Make a paper doll with at least some of the clippings you recieved. Feel free to add other stuff.
5) Send the resulting Voo-Doo doll back to your partner.
6) Say "Ooo!" and "Ahhh!"

Your collage paper doll can be a traditional one with clothes, or a less traditional one, as long as it has some human characteristics. Take a look at the "Where's My Traders" Topic for links to both kinds.

Voo-Doo here is not meant in any religious or satanic sense. Voo-Doo dolls are for entertainment purposes only.

(TADAAAAAAAH!)

HOW TO PARTICIPATE (please read carefully):

1. Tribe Message me (Anne) with your mailing address, and email address by Monday January 29th. If I do not receive those two pieces of information via tribe message, you won't be signed up. Responding in thread does not count, do not pass GO, do not collect $200.

2. On January 30th, receive the mailing address, Tribe name and profile link of the person to which you are sending your item.

3. Now think about your hometown: what makes it famous (or infamous)? what does it look like? smell like? sound like? what does it mean to you? Think about how you can create a purse that embodies your village, city or town. Will it be a subtle nod to the sights and sounds of Hometown, USA/CANADA/UK? or is it an unmistakable homage to the biggest brightest symbol of your town?

4. Your materials should cost between $0-10.00.

5. Ship it to the address you've been given by February 15 (or as close to that as possible). If you are going to be late or some kind of disaster has struck, then please contact me or your trade partner. If you are very very late, unresponsive or just plain flaky, you will likely be removed from the tribe. That would suck.

6. Wait for your little lump of crafty pursey goodness to arrive.

Any questions? Message me.

Here it is! The Crafty Card Trade! Let's see how many people are interested. We'll probably limit the number to 11 people. If we have more interest, we'll create another group. If it's close, say 12 people, then we'll discuss whether or not the group wants to make more cards. Here's what we'll do:

Create 10 or so greeting cards in any medium. We'll decide the exact number when we've got everyone signed up. Obviously, you don't have to make a card for yourself! Computer made cards are fine, if they're original and artistic (think Ms. Smart, not Hallmark online), as are collaged or painted cards. They can be 10 different cards, or 10 the same or some combination. The subject should be non-religious in nature and be blank inside. Make them a mailable size and include envelopes of the appropriate size. Please sign your cards either on the front or the back, so we'll know who made them. It would be a good idea to photograph or scan your card or cards before sending them out, so we can all post ours when everyone gets theirs.

I'm going to ask that people send a few dollars to cover shipping along with their cards. I'm thinking $4. Send your cards in a standard sized (10" x14" or so) padded manilla envelope that can be reused to send your cards to you.

If you're interested, say so here and PM me with your address. I'll PM mine back to you. Everyone will ship their cards to me, then I'll redistribute and send cards back to everyone. Since everyone has to wait until the last person has sent their to me, I'm asking that everyone do their best to make the deadline. We're getting close to the holidays, so be sure you're able to come through before committing! I can't wait to get cards from everyone! YAY!!

One of the reasons it is sooooooooooooooooo special is because four years ago I developed a condition that leaves me in almost constant pain. Ms Smart took the time to read the ramblings on my tribe page - the only way she could have know about it - and made me something that would be special to me - believe me it is special to me.

I can't put into words how much it means to me that she took the time to get to know me and my "secrets". It just takes my breath away.

I have officially discussed this with Anne now and I will monitor the next trade, give her a chance to just have fun this time. In our other thread there were 2 strong ideas, the paper doll trade and the tiny precious trade. How about if we have a vote here for what we want. Anyone who wants can put in their vote over the next 2 days and then I will post a trade sign up thread.

A description of the two:

Paper doll trade could be something fun, Kathleen had posted a link in the other thread and it has some pretty cool ideas on it. I think it is something anyone could do, and, as I posted, you would not have to limit yourself to paper, as I know there are quilts made with a paperdoll theme. Here is the link from Kathleen:

http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/dolls.html

A tiny precious trade would also be very cool and easy on shipping costs (one would hope), and nobody would probably have to have a special box made for shipping either. It would be any item, but would have to fit within a certain size, let's say 1" X 1" X 1" would be the smallest and 3" X 3" X 3" would be the largest. There would be no limit to what type of craft you do, just that it be tiny, let your imaginations go wild!!

Please everyone let me know, just by posting either paper doll or tiny precious, what you would like to do. I think Anne would agree that whatever we don't do this time we can do next time!! I am having a hard time deciding myself because I would so love to do both!!

I know we are in the throes of another trade and I am excited(somebody please remind me to email Anne!!)

In chatting to my 11 year old daughter she is excited and was wondering about doing a trade for kids her age as well. I do not really want to let her loose on Tribe.net and I couldn't really find anything outside the Tribe so I am a-wondering...

We are all crafty and so it stands to reason we have crafty minions at our beck and call (OKOKOK, sons and daughters/nieces and nephews for you touchy feely parent types). Is there any interest in organizing a small trade for them? If Anne guides me then I would be happy to wrangle them or I can stand back and be a patroness of High Macrame/Macaroni Art of the Under 15 set...

Let me know. My daughter is eager to find a Crafty Trading pal. Goddess knows we have enough craft stuff for both of us...

When I craft, I often get little phrases stuck in my head "where did they go on vacation?," "green fish scales," "Happy Anniversary!" I was thinking, wouldn't it be interesting to hear what words swirl around in other people's heads?

So, gather a little smattering of words together. They can be a few sentences, rhyming, nonsensical, or anything you please. Submit them with your message telling me you'd like to participate. Later, you'll receive another vixen's words of inspiration. These words are meant to be an inspiration, a starting point, but not a part of the final project. For example, I might receive the words "the leaves rush and rustle in the cold wind" and knit a scarf to keep out the cold, or bind a mini-book full of drawings of trees, or make a necklace from painted wooden beads. I would try and avoid simply making something that included those words in the end result. But if the words really speak to you, then go forth!

1. Message me (Anne) with your wonderful words, intent to participate, mailing address, AND email address by June 9.

2. On June 11, receive the words, address and Tribe name (and profile link) of the person to which you are sending your item.

3. Ponder their words and what they conjure up for you. Does a literal interpretation spring into mind? or does it start a train of thought leading elsewhere? Are you sending back a reply? an answer? a question? a punchline?

OK, Ladies! Here we go! Announcing the first, but not last, Crafty Trade Extravaganza. The theme for this one is "Crafty Containers" Let your imaginations go on this and think outside the "box."

If you want to participate, PM me with your tribe name, real name, mailing address and email address. Sign-up April 25. I will notify you of your tradee by May 1. I know a lot of us will be busy making items for Mother's Day so let's give each other until the end of the month to deliver.

Be sure to review the rules in the tribe title box. If you cannot follow through, please do not sign up. We won't love you any less. However, if you do sign up, we could get our feelings hurt if you don't deliver.

Come on, ladies. Anne set up this tribe and is going to be out of town. Let's make her proud on this first trade. Course, it wouldn't hurt my image, either. (LOL)

Lets get craftin'!
